4409 The Shaldon Festival will celebrate its twentieth season of high quality classical music concerts in St Peter’s Church, from 18-21 June 2009. In advance of the main Festival there will be an additional and very special CHORAL WORKSHOP AND INFORMAL CONCERT on Saturday 4 April 2009. We are honoured that Sir David Willcocks has accepted our invitation to conduct this workshop as a celebration of the life of his friend, the internationally renowned concert pianist David Parkhouse. David was born in Teignmouth and lived latterly in Shaldon with his wife Eileen Croxford (our President) where he died in April 1989.
The workshop will be a double celebration as Sir David Willcocks approaches his 90th birthday in December 2009. Born in Newquay, Cornwall, Sir David is regarded as the world's pre-eminent conductor and teacher of choral music.
